Free Family Workshop – Saint John

Are you an individual with a disability living in the Saint John area?

Are you a family member of a child or adult with a disability living in the Saint John area?

Do you struggle to find and hire quality support workers?

Then this is the workshop for you!  Come and learn about a brand new website and resource guide that are launching in February 2016 that will assist families in the Saint John area to recruit and manage respite and support workers.

Support Match NB is an online database that will match individuals with a disability and their family with qualified support workers in the area.  This workshop will give an introductory presentation about the website.  Individuals and their families will learn how to:

  • create an account,
  • create and post a job advertisement,
  • search for potential candidates,
  • review resumes and
  • select potential support workers.

A resource guide called “How to Hire a Support Worker” will also launch along with the website.  This guide provides information on how an individual with a disability and their family can:

  • find and hire a support worker,
  • train a support worker,
  • pay a support worker and
  • have a good relationship with the support worker.
