Live-In, Life Sharing Companion

The parents of an adult daughter living in Fredericton, New Brunswick are seeking a female, or a couple, to be a live-in, life-sharing companion(s) for their daughter who has an intellectual disability. She speaks with her eyes, and by pointing. She smiles from her heart. She enjoys being out, daily, in the community with a trusted companion. She requires hands-on personal support in all aspects of daily living. If you have a caring, respectful nature, and are willing to form a relationship with such a person, and work well as a team, you may be the ideal companion.

You will be compensated for providing support services to this individual at a rate of $1500/month and receive free rent/utilities in a furnished house.

The successful candidate(s) will need to be non-smoker(s), and use only fragrance-free products due to severe environmental allergies. Pets are not permitted in the home.

Responsibilities:

21 overnights/month,

12-15 evenings/month

1 weekend/month.

It is important to the parents that the life-sharing companion(s) is open to flexibility with scheduling, including being available on-call in case of emergency.

The successful candidate(s) will require:

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Criminal Record Check included);
  • Social Development Prior Contact Check;
  • 3 references (two professional, one character);
  • Driver’s License and access to a car would be an asset.
