Support person wanted – Fredericton

Support person wanted (female) – an individual interested in doing work supporting a woman with an intellectual disability in her own apartment.

Shifts are overnight and/ or through the day. Individual is quite active in her community, loves to socialize, contribute to society, and make new friends!

Main Responsibilities include:

  • Personal Care
  • Meal Preparation
  • Housekeeping
  • Outings
  • Creative thinking around apartment activities
  • Initiative
  • Inclusive-Minded
  • Approach that focuses on ‘assisting with’ vs. ‘doing for’

Qualifications

  • Nursing, Kinesiology, Human Services background
  • Experience supporting or volunteering with persons with a disability
  • Having a car considered a major asset
  • Students welcome – or anyone who is retired

Shift examples:

10am-3pm = $12/hr

3pm-7pm = $12/hr

7pm-overnight to 10am = $100 (stipend, bedroom provided)

Decisions about the hiring of respite workers rest with the individual requiring support and/or their family. If you are selected, you will not be an employee of NBACL or the Department of Social Development. In your role of respite worker you will be considered self-employed and will be responsible for making any remittances (e.g., income tax, CPP premiums) required by law.***
