Support Roommate needed in Saint John

Live-in support roommate (female only) wanted for woman in Saint John, to provide companionship and support.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support an individual who has a visual impairment
  • Support someone to eat a celiac friendly diet
  • Reliable, Trustworthy and personable
  • Create, implement and maintain housekeeping and household routine (creating daily to-do list, cooking and cleaning)
  • Encourage community involvement and assist where necessary
  • Skill Development: budgeting, cooking and cleaning, navigation of community
  • Must remain sober during hours of work.
  • No pet allergies
  • Shifts include
    • Overnights ( 7 days a week)
    • 2 Weekends per month

Qualifications/requirements:

  • Female
  • Valid First Aid/ CPR certification
  • Valid driver’s licence with access to a vehicle
  • Valid Criminal Record and Vulnerable sector check
  • Individual should be outgoing, enthusiastic and organized
  • Must be non-smoker

Compensation for support:

  • Live rent free
  • Monthly stipend of $1780 provided
  • Weekly respite provided
  • The chance to positively influence another person’s life and help to create a more inclusive community
  • Employee will be hired by the individual and their family and will not be employed by NBACL or Department of Social Development. The employee will be considered self-employed and must manage their own income for tax purposes.
