The New Brunswick Association for Community Living (NBACL) has taken action to make modifications to its clothing donation bins across New Brunswick.  NBACL is aware of recent media reports of individuals being trapped in and harmed by clothing donation bins, and has taken proactive steps to ensure similar situations do not happen to any of its 74 bins across New Brunswick.

After consulting with the manufacturer (Rangeview Fabrications) and a Senior Instructor of Engineering with the University of British Columbia’s Okanagan Campus, NBACL has made the recommended modifications to each clothing donation bin.  In addition, NBACL has placed warning labels on these clothing donation bins to dissuade individuals from entering or misusing the bins. These bins have been retrofitted throughout January before any similar incidents happen in clothing donation bins.

NBACL uses the funds raised through our clothing donation bins to create and continue programs which support children and adults with an intellectual or developmental disability and their families.  NBACL offers programs in early learning and childcare, employment, family support, inclusive education, disability support, and social inclusion, among others.
