FUN BBQs 2018

Ideal weather and great turnouts made for two successful Families United Network (FUN) barbeques in Saint John and Fredericton hosted by the New Brunswick Association for Community Living (NBACL) Community Navigators.

Saint John’s Rockwood Park picnic grounds were perfect for games, food and socializing.

“There were people there of all ages, and it really showed the diversity of NBACL’s network,” said Samantha Steeves, Saint John Community Navigator. “This is such an important event because it brings everyone together – meeting new people and discussing your experiences with them is always refreshing. All the smiles I saw today reminded me why I chose to work in this field!”

Meanwhile, in Fredericton, it was “Christmas in July” at Odell Park Lodge. Christmas-themed stations, a scavenger hunt, games, music and food made for a great time had by all.

“The Fredericton FUN barbeque went off without a hitch! The mischievous elves were found hiding in a tree, the food was plentiful and delicious, and smiling faces were all around despite the heat!” said Torey Smith, Fredericton Community Navigator. “We had Becka De Haan perform a song from her Christmas album, and a total of fifteen activities spread across the field and cold Snow Cones at the ready. We couldn’t have asked for a better time!”

Parachutes, good food and music at the two barbeques brought together people of all ages and stages to have some FUN!
