Description
This guide was developed by the New Brunswick Association for Community Living as a response to a provincial Newcomer Needs Assessment for individuals who have a disability, which was conducted in 2012–2013.
Through this assessment, it was clear that both newcomers and community partners were not fully aware of available disability-related supports and services available in New Brunswick. Through a partnership with the Province of New Brunswick (Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour; Settlement and Multiculturalism Services), we are able to provide information to both newcomers and community partners about the provincial non-profit organizations that support people with disabilities, as well as a brief summary of some of the available supports through the provincial government. Through the promotion of services and programs that newcomers with a disability and their families can access, New Brunswick is made a more suitable and attractive place to settle and live.
