As a Community Animator and Supported Living Facilitator, Sydney works with adults who have an intellectual disability to achieve their goals for inclusion in the community. Sydney is responsible for helping adults make connections to the community based on their interests whether it be recreational activities or finding volunteer opportunities, maintaining and monitoring connections, and mentoring and coaching people in paid support roles. Sydney helps adults establish networks of support and also monitors living arrangements established by the Social Inclusion program to help adults live independently in a home of their own. Additionally, Sydney presents to organizations and schools about NBACL and social inclusion, and also helps facilitate Sibshops, a workshop for children and youth who have a sibling with a disability.
Sydney graduated from St. Thomas University in May 2015 and first came to NBACL in October 2015 as a Social Inclusion Facilitator. Additionally, Sydney is the Host Site Coordinator for Best Buddies in the UNB Fredericton chapter and is also a member of a Project Development committee that collaborates on initiatives to help children and youth in New Brunswick. She is very proud to work for NBACL supporting individuals who have intellectual disabilities that are just like you!
