Today, May 15, 2018, is International Day of Families

Posted in: NBACL Blog

The United Nations (UN) first marked May 15 as the International Day of Families in 1983 as a way to both acknowledge the hard work of families and to raise awareness of issues that affect them socially and economically. The focus of this year’s theme is “Families and Inclusive Societies.”

The New Brunswick Association for Community Living (NBACL) would like to thank families across New Brunswick and worldwide who are supporting a family member with an intellectual disability for their constant efforts. We also appreciate the work of other families and individuals who ensure that every child gets the opportunity to be included – you are all part of a network that provides invaluable help and friendship.

Simply smiling and offering a helping hand can often times make a huge difference in a family’s life, and can leave a lasting impact.
