Inclusion is something that has always been important to me, especially since I was diagnosed with Asperger’s seven years ago. I am so privileged that I have always been included in so many great things such as where I went to school and having so many great friends that I have met from the various experiences that I have been through in my life.
NBACL has been on my journey of inclusion. This is why I felt honoured that they have included me in a very special project that they are working on. I am transcribing a parent’s guide on inclusive education in New Brunswick which will be turned into an e-book. It doesn’t feel like work transcribing it. I am learning so much about the history of inclusion. New Brunswick has achieved a lot in the area of inclusion.
Inclusion is an important issue to me because I know what it feels like to not feel included. Often, I felt different before I knew about my diagnosis. It made a lot of sense when I found out why I felt different. I am so happy that I am in on this special project because I feel that I am learning about why inclusion is so important.
